well, i ended up making a claim on my insurance for the screen, (i figured that a £50 excess was by far the cheapest method)
I had to wait a wee while for autoglass to get hold of one, but they came round today to fit it
On removing the old screen, the fitter commented that the screen was loose (so thats why i always got a soaking when it rained !), once it was removed, the real reason i got soaked became apparent, most of the leading edge of the roof want attatched to the flange the screen is glued to as a result of 43 years of tinworm !
to cut a long story short, the new screen is still not fitted as i now have a fair bit of awkward welding to do before they will fit it......BALLS !! (at least when it does finally go in, i will know that it will stay in !
i'll take a couple of pics later and post 'em up tomorrow.

Been there, done that :lolno: If possible, try & get some waxoyl in behind the welded repairs as it'll stop any condensation getting in behind it. Post up the pics when you're done with it

cheers...Nige

Well, she's all welded up and smoothed out now, screen fitter coming back on friday to put the new screen in :D
Also, got the slow puncture in the front tyre sorted, made the bottom hose for the new rad, ordered fan switches and relays etc........almost ready for the MOT

Once thats out of the way, i have a pair of glass wings to fettle and fit (the steel ones the car has are in a pretty poor state), and a pair of fenderwell headers to modify.
