Was looking for a fibreglass one ideally.... I'm curious how much weight could be lost from a standard one with a hole cutter |

You could always lay up some fibreglass on the hood to get the shape, then separate the hood frame and skin, allowing you to to apply the fibreglass skin to the steel frame

Stu I cut an original bonnet skin off and fitted a fibreglass cowl hood skin to the original frame on my 79 Z28. Wasn't to bad a job to do!!!! As you say there is a lot of weight still in the frame though. Even managed to use the original catch and hinges and springs. Harwood make complete fibreglass hoods that are a bolt on, I am sure somewhere like Summit Racing might do these and list the weight saving. Also I am sure somebody will be doing carbon fibre hoods by now ... If you want to spend that much. Welcome on board Tony (72 Formula 400) Glad to see you have joined the ranks Watch out for plenty of bits coming up for sale from Tony Top guy and really helpful Si |
