Due to the excellent performance of the ol' pink beast at Snetterton on tuesday, I just booked another trackday on 14th April at Abingdon. I've a few other friends going too in some assorted machinery so I hope it will be a fun day.. details here:

If anyone else fancies it please do come with, tracks days are great fun if you've never done one, and you don't have to go flat out, you can enjoy at any pace..

Another highly fun day at Abingdon last friday... has some friends there with a TVR Tuscan, Rover 220 Turbo, a suprisingly quick 1.8 Astra, and a late arrival of a 430 fezza + the usual Caterhams, Clios, 3-series Beemers, MX5's etc.. were in abundent attendance.
I'll try and get some pics up as I find them.

Learnt a few things about the heavy Chevy's on track ability.

1. The rear anti-roll (sway) bar makes a big difference, really balances the car into the bend and helps rear end bite coming out of it.
2. My car is pretty quick in straight line, but with my 2.56 gears I still struggle to accelerate like it should with the power I have.
3. I'm seriously thinking of investing in a 2nd set of wheels with proper track tyres on, as I think I'm exploring the limits of normal street tyres.
4. Airfield track days, with coned tracks are a bit trickier, as you can't see the turn as clearly approaching it, and cutting corners means cones go flying. Also, the surface can be a bit uneven.
5. I'm not as competitive or brave as most people that attend track days.

I'm looking at booking something up for June. Would like to try another track I haven't been to, Mallory Park, Oulton Park... or maybe Rockingham again. Any one care to join in.. ?

Just been sent a couple of pics from last Friday at Abingdon

Coming back into the paddock after the sighting laps early on..

Heavily loaded suspension on a high speed long left hander back onto the main runway straight. Suprised there's no tyre smoke visible as the rear was sliding very slightly every time..
