Car Details:Pontiac Firebird 1968
Today was the inaugural American Speedfest at Brands Hatch, Euro Nascar racing, Legends Cup, Bernie's V8s, real Nascar demo laps, etc etc!

While the weather was a little cool, the turn out was still pretty good!

The gridwalk with the Euro Nascars was excellent, with virtually all drivers signing autographs as fast as their pens would allow!

Over 600 American cars on display: mostly Mustangs it seemed! We are so glad we bought something more interesting rather than a common-as-muck Mustang! Although unfortunately we were unable to take it to the event. The only other 1st gen Firebird there was a 69 drag race car.

Anyway, on to the pics:

It was a great day yesterday, and apparently the promoters are so happy they immediately are planning the next one. Giving free admission to American car owners I think was a key part, and teaming up with owners clubs too, as it guaranteed a huge yank car exhibit for other punters, a good turnout of existing american car fans and made owners feel like they were being appreciated for bringing there car (something many show promoters could learn from). Corvette Club and Mustang Owners Club there both in huge numbers. Ticket sales exceeded Touring Car and DTM which are known decent crowd pullers, so a huge success !!

I arrived about 9.15am and missed out on entry to the main display area so parked up at the entrance mini display with some Shelby Mustangs. In hindsight I could have driven round the back and parked up in the Paddock area, no-on would have known or cared.

Great pictures there Joe, and only fraction of the cars that were there. I bumped into many people I knew, and spent a good while in the BerniesV8's area of the paddock checking out the race cars, so didn't see every race.
The EuroNascars were quite impressive, the mini trucks, Legends and Atoms were OK but not that exciting IMO, but I really for the BerniesV8 race, which was fun ! Poor old Robin from Autopontiac went out in the 2nd lap with gearbox failure, Al Weymanwho posts here sometimes had some running issues in his yellow 2nd gen, so didn't do great but managed to finish at least.
I was knackered so didn't see the second race, but by the looks of it the sun came out and it warmed up. In fact I left just as that ProStreet 69' Firebird was too, it looked and sounded great on the move...

It's like the best combinations of regular yank car show, proper circuit race day meet and Nascar all rolled into one !!! Hugely recommended day out when it happens next.

Sounds like an absolute amazing scene

my guys were looking after Jeff Barley's Blue race camaro as well as their 69 " sunoco" job fresh back from a reshell after Spa last year.

was v sad to have been 600 miles away in Inverness at the time!! Did the MGBV8 win the Bernie rcae BAC?
