Car Details:89 RS V6 Camaro Moggy Traveller with Fiat two litre twincam 35 Standard flying 12 To be Rodded ????

Hi guys my introduction to the club went to projects ? maybe the man upstairs new more abought the car than i did ??? When buying the car i knew the front floor pan needed a repair above the rear number plate inner rear wheel arches scabs on the bodywork and off side side skirt was damaged underneath and a full respray .After repairing above the rear numberplate i took off the offside sideskirt to repair the undrside as it was damaged, the rear of sill and inner rear wheel arch needed repair. After sorting them i then i looked at the sill although beeing pretty solid( it was painted with brushed on underseal )it didnt look right so i attacked it with the chipping hammer and it was as i thought so i cut it off refabed a new one (out of galvo sheet metal)and welded it on after drilling drain holes and holes to waxoyl at a later date. You could not see any of the rot with side skirt on and was solid underneath so would have past its next MOT .Not on my car ,Inner sills and box sections were rustproofed with Jenolite and weldthrough zink spray before sealing in .Then onto front inner wheel arch/footwell /back of batterie tray .Then onto side two this was worse with a repair to all of the above and a full front floor pan rather than just patching i cut out the full front pan, remade in galvo again, and not having a bead roller i made up some ribs and welded them underneath to give the panel strength .Also just infront of rear wheel arch needed cutting out and reparing, so basically all the crap is cut out, it just needs etch priming 2kprimer then spot in with 2kred and full underseal (so i can use the car).So here is the pics as promised :thumbup:ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageTHATS Side one sorted ? the stuff that looks like chewy is an old tube of seam sealor.I wasnt going to through it out.

Hi Neil, how ya doing?? I certainly didn't move your intro into the project section :? as I replied to that thread saying that I couldn't understand how I missed it Doh! Anyways, that's in the past & it's good to see you getting involved on here, thanks.

The car's coming along well by the sound of it, do you have any pics of the work as it progressed?? Are you gonna repaint the whole car red?? What are the final plans for it??

cheers...Nigel

Hi Neil, I can't say that I know the car, but maybe someone else on here might. It's great to see pictures of work as it progresses. Looks like it's coming along really well, is there much more major welding to do?? It was a good idea to replicate the strengthening braces

cheers...Nige

ps enough pics??? we can never have enough pics

Hi guys thanks for the replys as for things to do repair the offside sideskirt (if this hadnt been took off i wouldnt have noticed the sills were shxxed )then spot in all repairs and bolt back to geather underseal waxoyl then fit new exhaust system (from siameese front pipes)the system had been made up of bits of pipe bends ect the back box was stainless straight through and was very loud call me an old fart but i like to be able to talk to some one sat next to me, get it back on the road and use it over whats left of the summer, sort any bits and pieces (whilst using it) then respray it over the winter but well see ,and the colour will be red witch ,not sure Cheers Neil

Hi neil.

i did indeed once own that car. i had it for a few months intending to work on it but buying another house stopped those plans. i then sold it to a trader on eBay. i think i drove a total of 100 odd miles.
i never even looked at it to see the extent of the rot.

nice to see its getting the love it deserves.

Ben
