Why do i always say "oh it should only take a day"

So got the majority of the panel to under 1mm differences when running a massive rule against it. One patch left where it's 2mm low, so working that tomorrow.

Then i must re-align the door as the quarter to door body line was based on a body filler line, which once removed turned out that the door needs to be dropped 1.5mm. Explains the slightly off fit of the door to quarter before.

Then 2 patch panels to do.

Then the fender on the passenger side needs to be straightened out as that too got caught up in the fun time that the door had with another object.

Then, etch, sealer, skim of filler then sanding the rest of the car to 320, then primer. then paint. then fuel line. then exhaust. then someone come and finish the rest for me i'm tired thanks.

Ray, don't put filler over the etch/sealer, it should either be on the bare metal or over epoxy primer hth

cheers...Nige

Hey Nige,

Ye i saw in the TDS of the etch that is said to not put polyster material ontop of etch, so i thought that using a primer sealer ontop of etch would create a barrier to the etch? Or would it need to be epoxy only?

I really want to avoid putting filler directly onto metal to avoid any areas of rust breaking through.

Cheers!

Epoxy primer first, the filler, then epoxy. You don't need to use any etch primer with epoxy.

Anyway, great work so far, looking good! Panel work is always time consuming. Rather rewarding though.

As Flak monkey says, epoxy & then filler followed by epoxy, then primer filler, followed by topcoat.

sent you an email on this, hope it helps

cheers...nige

Surely the car should be closer to being done? May have to name this thread '79 unprogress. Or alternatively, view this thread backwards.

Right, well the site isn't allowing me to upload pics  so, imagine a good looking camaro gone bad and that's what you would be seeing here

And the site won't let me edit my post, so the above belongs in the above

There was a nasty crease along the bottom of the fender, managed to hammer and dolly it out. But there was another dent on the top of the arch, including the arch lip, making it tough to work on. Have been trying to work it for 2 weekends now :(
