Car Details:I am currently looking to purchase a generation 5 Chevrolet Camaro. 3.6 I have some questions about it before I buy.
Hello all,

Firstly, I have been toying around with getting a Camaro for a long time. At the weekend, I was able to view a 3.6 Camaro and was very impressed. So much so that I want to buy it. I have a few questions, and can't find any suitable answers.
If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

My first question is: how much is the vehicle excise on this vehicle? DVLA do not allow me to search for it on their website.

My second question is: I notice from Chevrolet UK that the Camaro has been discontinued. Is this just as a European release or forever?

My last question: Have any generation 5 owners had any negative responses when driving, and having your car parked in a public place? A few (quite negative nellies) friends have suggested that owning a car like this would be like driving around with a 'scratch here' target. I dont believe this is likely for the majority of places I would visit. However, I do intend to use it as my main vehicle ( I walk to work).
If anyone can help, that would be wonderful. Many thanks.
Paul

They have discontinued it in Europe but are or have just released the 6th gen in America , most people I find like to look at them not scratch them it's not like a Lamborghini or Bentley where you are making a financial statement to people and I have never heard of a camaro being keyed up by anyone. As much as you love the one you viewed for resale value further down the line I would strongly suggest investing your money in a V8 rather than a V6, there will be a negligible difference in fuel economy and any petrol heads will want a V8 in the future. Have a look on flea bay and check out the price difference between a 4th gen V6 and a 4th gen V8 and the difference will be obvious

Hi Paul,
I think the tax will be £230 a year if its a American import not a sold from new UK spec car. If it is a UK spec car then I would expect it to be nasty, £450?

I don't think you'd have a problem with people damaging your car. Most people have a good response to Yank motors.

Can you tell us how much you are looking to spend on this V6? Just curious how much they are going for.

Hi thanks for you responses.

The Tax, I finally go through to DVLA and they confirmed it was £230 for the year, I was very happy at this as my Meriva is £205 (yes to my shame I own a Vauxhall Meriva).

This one is retailing at £19,950 from a dealer, which I feel is a bargain.
