Hi there

Just thought I'd say hello - I've just imported a 2010 camaro ss with the rs package and am enjoying it a lot. I also own a 1969 mach 1 mustang. The jury's out as to which is thirstier and there is not a lot in it, especially around town.

have a look at some photos on the link below.

Hi Cal, welcome to the forum. You're the 2nd member that owns a 5th gen, but the 1st to own one in this country. Don't forget to post up plenty of info, driving reports pics etc to let us all know what it's like to own one of these cars, cheers.....Nige

Both very nice cars , love the camaro in black, which do you prefer driving or are they too different to compare?

Cheers.................Tim

Alright gents, thanks for the replies.

I test drove a V6 and was blown away, but for me it's always been about V8s - something about the noise and the kudos, so it was always going to be a V8 model.

I originally was interested in the automatic as much of my driving is across town and I also liked the idea of the paddleshift gearbox (and the remote start) but ultimately a manual became available and within 3 weeks it was imported, IVA'd, taxed and on the road. I can still barely believe it. It's got 600 miles on the clock after a few runs so I've been able to open it up a bit, and 0-60 is in the region of 4.7-4.8 seconds. What I found surprising about it on a run is the fuel economy - it barely ticks over at 1000rpm in 6th at around 70mph. the handling is pretty firm but it is good. Not good for cobbles/speed bumps etc but it is surprisingly responsive and you do lose track of the speed you're going - luckily you can have this displayed digitally as well as on the dial which is possibly a bit small to read.

Vision is not very good though, it's a bit like looking through a visor, and getting onto motorways/feeding onto main roads is a nightmare.

My one gripe? the mirrors don't fold away, and it is difficult to park.

Other than that it is awesome - it sounds and looks brilliant.

Can't really compare it to the Mach 1. I took the stang out the other day and nearly died as i was used to the camaro brakes and steering. it will always have presence and power (it has a 389ci stroked V8 delivering approx 500bhp) but its handling is appaling and in the wet it just doesn't stop. But both cars are for different occasions!

Cheers

I'm loving mine, got 2000km on it now, I said it before, but it really has totally surprised me in the handling department, I love it, 240kmh and it was soo planted and stable, no rattles, no vibes and not alot of wind noise! This car makes me grin from ear to ear every time I put my foot down.
I have just got a cat back zorst (Solo) for it and have a CAI kit on order (AIRAID) which I am hoping will free up the breathing and give it a sound that it deserves!!
