anyone have any experience tracing a cars history? my '68 was first registered in early '70 so it was approx only 18 months old when brought in think its unusual for a 1st gen to be so young when it was imported, or is it? had a quick look on DVLA's site but not much of any use, is there anywhere else I could get some info from? cheers Alan |

Alan, I'm in a similar situation as you. I can trace my car back to a guy in Reading who raced my car and another 1st gen (anecdotal story) but I've hit a brick wall trying to find out any more. Unless your car came with loads of history it can be frustrating trying to get the provenance of your 1st gen. My problem is made worse by it not having a recognised VIN. Are you trying to trace the cars history here in the UK or from it's birth ? If the latter then the VIN will give you a wealth of information as well as the Protect- O - Plate, trim plate and broadcast sheet. The best bit of advice I got was from a guy in the States who told me not to get hung up on where my car came from but drive it and enjoy it for what it is. A Classic Camaro which draws admiring looks from people who see it. |
