Out of preference would you prefer your car to be powered by a small block, a big block, or maybe even a stroker?? Why would you make that choice? cheers .....Nige

Car Details:68 pontiac firebird coupe project car,my aim is a street friendly, lightly modified pro.touring style.
Lowered ,mild body mods,400 cu in SBC engine, Muncie 4speed, 10 bolt posi axle, disc front drum rear.
68 firebird convertible ( long term project) Stock resto/mod style ,400 pontiac th350
406 small block chevy (400 with +30 bore) these motors have big block torque but small block weight and its factory stock so no worries about Chinese stroker parts that don't fit. I'm building one of these with Edelbrock RPM heads and mid range Summit cam, can't wait to try it.

Small block has got to be the way ahead

lots to do with the 400 Bowtie block to start with

Big blocks have oil surge problems in corners- as well as upsetting handling
I managed to spin an Aluminium 427 big block ZL-1 race car at Donington in 2001-- the weight saved by going all aluminium does not overcome the weight of the reciprocating items in the engine

Butch runs a destroked 400 small block

Small block, I'm looking for a 400 at the moment, agree with the handling aspect of SBC vs BBC, but I do think the Rat motors sound awesome :D

There's always the LSx series......anyone considered them (despite the expense)?

Small blocks can sound awesome too ;) I have to agree with the 400 though, in the past it was always disregarded by a lot of people, but it has soooo much potential. A friend of mine has a relatively stock 400 in his '57 Chevy. It's all steel with everything electric like seats etc & it has 3.08 gears. He tows a caravan to the strip, lets out the pressure from his air shocks & clicks off 12.00's with it without nitrous :o :o. 400's are the way to go, definately, ;) cheers....nige
