We got back from France recently & I've now downloaded the holiday snaps. Whilst there we visited a place called Oradour-Sur-Glane which is retained by the French as a martyred village in rememberance of those that died. The Germans came into town during the 2nd World war & Massacred the whole village. The village is just as it was when it was destroyed by the Germans. Here's a link to the story:-

Here's a couple of pics I took, this is the main road going into town
The doctors car left just as it was that fateful day outside a patients house in the village square.
The road leading to the church where all the women & children were slaughtered
You could see bullet holes everywhere. The worst for me was in a wall where someone had been shot, just outside a doorway,in a cluster of 3 holes about chest height. Just standing on that spot makes you feel very uneasy
The church where all of the women & children were held prior to being killed by bullets & incendiary devices. You can still see bullet holes around the windows where people were shot as they tried to escape & even now the smoke imprint still exists on the walls surrounding the windows
This really was an eerie place to be even after all of this time. , ......Nige
