The ring gear on the flywheel needed changeing so i got the gear box out and bought a new ring but i could,nt get one that had the 3 welded parts that are rivited on the flywheel.I tried a well known engineering shop to fit the new ring only to be told it would cost £350 to fit and 3 weeks to do the job.I shopped around an found a small engineers that done the job for £60 and they did a great job of it in a day.After taking the gearbox out the bell houseing has to be taken out on it,s own afterwards as it,s such a tight fit an has to be twisted about to remove.
I tried to refit the gearbox but it was so much hassle i ended up takeing the engine out and refitted the engine an box together.While the gearbox was out i had the gearbox to bell houseing stregnthened useing 6 bolts insted of 4 to connect the box.It,s all back running fine again,hopefully i can get some use out the car now.
