Thought it could be worth sharing a few vids on best practices for car cleaning. I've been guilty of the old t-shirt wash cloth until recently :shh:

I know it will go against the grain with a lot of people but I'll always use a waterless car wash/wax when cleaning our cars, people say they scratch but that's down to technique and cleanliness. No swirls or scratches whatsoever, and I can get a car thoroughly cleaned in about an hour or less. Everyone to their own

I've heard about waterless cleaning before, how does it work and is it suited to heavily dirtied cars as well?

I don't no, those girls always come around to wash the car but they are terribly wasteful with the resources.

Where we live the cars tend to get a dusting of cow shi... manure because of the rural locality, it's never struggled removing it unless it's dried in a bit. Road dirt, salt is no problem. The trick is to make sure you have loads of decent micro fibre cloths and change them often. A lot of people say it causes swirls or cobweb marks but I've never had that problem.

Ever since I went through a car wash at Morrison's in Penrith in a new Dodge Caliber and got a scratch down the side of it because there was a twig or something in the rollers I've cleaned the car by hand, wax and shampoo is a chore when you don't have the time or the weather is rubbish, I stick to this method now and always get good results

I can recommend this product for getting rid of scratches http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Farecla-500ml ... 2a5e2078ab

It's worked a treat on the cars I've had and gotten out some really stubborn scratches other stuff has failed to get rid of
