Warner Bros recently bought the rights to the Cannonball Run franchise and will make a reboot film:

I am currently re-reading the book by Brock Yates about the five real 'Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash' runs in the '70s. The stuff of legend!
That's the sort of thing we should be organising here!

It's OK, don't bug me with the realities.

Great book! I read it for the first time a couple of years ago.

They are also making a Bandit film a bit 'making of' documentary about Smokey and the Bandit.

Looking forward to these films - it will be interesting to see how the Cannonball one turns out, risk of disappointment of course as the originals were great.

I hate all these remakes, usually garbage , I watched the new point break last night which was a crap as expected and most people don't even realise the Nicholas cage gone in sixty seconds was a remake( although it was worth watching just for angelina jolie :-)

Funnily enough i just watched the Point Break remake last week (haven't seen the original still, it's on my 'to watch' list). It was so-so. My friend who has seen the original said it was ok, the original was better, which is always the case.

I'm a fan of both Gone in 60 seconds, i like to think they're different enough to count as 2 different films lol. There was even a sequel to the original - The Junkman and there was going to be a third, as part of a trilogy from the start, but the main guy died in a stunt during filming of the 2nd film. They managed to piece it together to finish and release the 2nd and there doesn't seem to be a script that's been found for the planned 3rd.

I watched the remake of Vanishing Point (1997 i think) and it was ok, would watch it again but definitely prefer the original.

I can't think of any films where the remake was better than the original. They are remaking Stephen Kings's IT, think it's out this year. They also announced a 5th Indiana Jones! Though i guess that's not as much of a remake as a continuation. Seems the film industry has run out of ideas in the last decade and it's remakes and continuations.

I generally prefer the originals instead of the remakes - assuming I saw the original first!

- The reboot of Robocop I enjoyed, but I still prefer the original (actually one of my favourite films)

- Gone in 60 Seconds I never saw the original with the yellow 1973 (actually a 1971) Eleanor, but did really enjoy the remake with Cage and co. Absolutely loved the Eleanor in that one, in my eyes its one of very few modifications that has improved on the original :)

- Cannonball Run was fun but if my usually very poor memory serves me well, none of the main cars were American Muscle which is what I want to see!

No remakes of "Two Lane Blacktop" so far.
I do agree that remakes are usually a disappointment.
What made the original "Robocop" for me, was all the wacky adverts (I'll buy that for a dollar), completely missing from the remake.
Any of you seen a movie called "Deuce of Spades"? If you like early rods, it's ace! (see what I did there).

Talking of Ace, won't be there on Saturday, will be in Cyprus.

Talking of remakes (snigger) still can't believe that Han Solo is dead.

I didn't know they remade vanishing point, I'll have a look for that one, still not seen the latest star wars though, I did see dead pool recently which scored a good 9/10 , hilarious film

Sorry about the Star Wars spoiler! I figured that anyone who was going to see it would have done so by now.
The Vanishing Point remake starred Viggo Mortensen. (TV movie 1997)

Strange, seeing Aragorn driving a Dodge Challenger.

Haven't seen Deadpool yet, but my son said it was good.

Not seen it, will look out for a copy though. Makes me think of California Kid with Charlie Sheen / Martin Sheen (they look so similar!).

Trying to think of the cars that were in it. I remember Dom Deluise making a suggestion in the film about using a black Trans Am and Burt Reynolds replying with "Nah, that's been done before".
I do remember though in The Gumball Rally film they had a daffodil yellow early 2nd Gen Camaro.

Saw DeadPool the other week, great film. Was there an original or was that the first adaptation of the comic book character?

Here you go, title is in Portuguese but the film is all in English. The nice thing is they kept the car the same in this remake :)
