Not sure if anyone's heard of this one yet, just read about it today, a documentary about Burt Reynolds, Hal Needham and also of the making of Smokey and the Bandit. Although it appears to be a screening in the U.S, likely it will be available on DVD / download at some stage:

Sounds interesting, dis you know that when they made the famed bridge jump they had to remove the underpowered and wheezey Pontiac engine and replace it with a Chevy lump ?

I never knew that! I remember hearing that after the jump, the car was undrivable and plain wrecked, so they used it as a parts car to keep the other 2 going. Not sure if it's true but i also read that the very end scene where they roll to stop to meet Big Enus, the car was so knackered the crew had to push it into shot as it wasn't able to run any longer :shock:
