What do you guys think of the increase in popularity that 2nd-gen (1970-81) Camaros and Firebirds are currently experiencing? Do you think they are becoming more popular to own now that the price of 1st gens is getting beyond the reach of a lot of people, or will the 3rd & 4th gens become the introduction level to Camaro ownership?? Will this increase in demand drive the price higher than is justified, as it has with 1st gens? Is the increased popularity of these car still beneficial for our hobby? What do you guys think? __________________ |

I think that it's just a natural progression, as cars become older they become 'classics' and people are more interested in them. I can remember a time when people couldn't sell early seventies muscle cars because most people (including myself) thought they were too new to be interesting. I think that the rise in value of 2nd gen camaro's (especially red '79 z28's) is entirely justified and if anyone would like to give me £40k for mine before it gets out of reach give me a shout. |

We seem to be getting out numbered by red Z/28 Camaros around here I think that the 2nd gen will soon be getting out of reach of the normal car nut & will become the true classic in the same way that the 1st gens have. When you see aftermarket suppliers tooling up to make parts for a certain model you can bet your boots that, that car has enough of a following to warrant making the stuff for it. Cheers....Nige |
