Morning all.... :chevy:

The weather's finally starting to break, so I guess that's summer over then... Better go in the loft and get the ski gear out later today :P

I not very exciting day for me planned, just a few odd work jobs at home, bit of paperwork and fixing some cables and stuff, probably make beef fajitas tonight .. Possibly more interesting, i managed to fit the new race mirrors on the kit car yesterday.

Mostly resting today after destroying my back finishing off the work that my labourer failed to show up to complete, it appears that despite being a real grafter his only interest is doing enough work to buy a big bag of whatever he fancies to get wasted on for the rest of the week! After the amount of British companies and people I have had dealings with over the last 6 months I think I'll select my next labourer from the local Eastern Europeans at the hand car wash

I thought you had a Labrador working for you ;)

(warning - whinge imminent. :x .)

People talk about the lack of work, buggered economy, no money etc... You try and get a Brit tradesperson out nowadays... it's a nightmare... My mum's had a few things needing doing at her house, roofer, electrician, fencer etc... Most didn't show for initial appointment, and half of the others that actually came never got in touch after saying they'll get back to her with with a quote..
Lots of people I know won't employ Brits now, and stick to Polish, Aussies etc..

I had 11 so called landscapers out to quote for my garden which to be fair was bordering on needing a gamekeeper it was so overgrown, so far aside from turfing I have put in £2800 and three days labour and paid individuals to do the rest, only 3 companies even bothered to quote and they came in at £8900, £10500and £14500 ! Last night I had a company round to quote for turfing to finish the job off, there's about 150 square meters of ground to be turfed and I can buy it at retail for £2.99 a square meter, his quote was £1500 plus vat! It's no wonder he has 5 boats at those rates, I have to agree Stu, English people seem to be allergic to hard work and think this country owes them a living , I am more than happy to pay people for the work they do but there are limits

Are those billet mirror mounts? Looks so!

I thing that's a valid whinge Stu. You guys know the troubles i'm having with a window fitter. They want a weeks wages for a mornings worth of work, and there are no (minimal) materials involved. It's a bit like twisted's landscaping issue... the tools they would use are easily paid for in just the 1 job and if they're so busy they can't make appointments, they have clearly paid off the tools of their business a while ago. So it's mainly the man hours that are being paid for. I guess that's the flipside of the 'immigrants come here and take benefits' coin... the ones that do work, do the work as they need the cash so don't p*ss you about, and based on what they're used to earning back home, they can do it for far less but it's still a good amount of cash for them.

Back to the subject... working today and should be finishing the exhaust tonight. Worked yesterday and went to see Terminator Genisys last night. It was ok, had higher expectations, it felt a bit rushed. Still worth a watch though.
