I have a question about headlight angles as i will be reinstalling them this weekend.

On a left hand drive car, the beams are angled differently, pointing to the right, therefore blinding oncoming traffic. My 2nd gen likely had different sealed lamps put in, to aim to the left so this wouldn't happen.

I bought some upgraded non sealed beams with halogen bulbs, from the U.S, without really thinking about the angle thing.

If i install these... will it be a problem? I was thinking, can't you just roatate / swap them to the other side? Sorry if this is a stupid question! I've read that when people import cars, they will buy new lamps from the UK as they will be angled correctly, but i was thinking that you could just rotate them?

My thinking is... the lamps being a U.S setup... one will be aimed at oncoming traffic. So, would i just turn this 180degrees so it's aimed at the side of the road instead? Am i even making sense?

I hate it when people drive towards you with misaligned headlamps, so i don't wanna be that guy. Plus i'm sure the MOT guy will check.

I'm referencing this document http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_180.htm Page 4 & 5 British American Type ( Checked on Main Beam & dipped light)

I remember my dad checking the alignment on a Renault, he parked the car a certain distance from a wall and marked up where everything should be and adjusted the lights accordingly. I'm trying to find something that shows where the lights should be aimed, trying to make sense of that document but think i'm missing somethere there.

Something like this, but for cars may help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyXUnfbATNQ

Thanks!

Ray

If they're like mine, you'll find they won't sit right if rotated upside down.. I'd just get some UK 7" standard halogen round units... fit Minis, LandRovers etc..

yep, should be standard H4...

I'll double check tonight... i bought them from NPD, check out the page below and i think it's item 13007 - "Bulb, Headlight Xenon. Converts your older-style sealed beams to the brighter design of Delta lights! Alead crystal lens is encase in a stamped steel highly polised reflector to provide up to 50% more light than a halogen bulb."

I guess these are useless then as they are from the states?

Was the plug on the back the same Stu? Or did it need some wiring mods? Not a prob if it needs it, just wondering :)

Gonna try and order some today, so that i can fit them this weekend.

If there's another make i should go for, please let me know!

Cheers!
