Due to the recent poor mpg I'm getting I figured it might be worth having the carb inspected/tuned, possibly the timing also if necessary.

The carb is a 750 DP. I'm in Essex so ideally someone/outfit in the county although Suffolk, Cambridgeshire or Hertfordshire borders are ok.

Can anyone recommend someone they've used before who really will get the best out the engine? Maybe a rolling road would be good, before and after figures would be nice.

Thanks :)

I have a guy who can help, he has been building smallblocks and carbs for 20 years and has a 10sec 1st gen, extremley knowledgable and capable and just set up in business locally for himself, he is based in charteridge near chesham, he doesn't have a rolling road but doesn't charge rolling road style prices either and has just started a sideline stripping and anodising Holley carbs. He has just done a lot of bits on my SS and I was more than happy with the work and price please bear in mind I've been around yank motors for years and wouldn't reccomend someone unless they knew exactly what they were doing. His company is called blackart performance , very nice guy called Andy who can be found on 07863 556748 and is happy to go the extra mile if needed to do what you need , a 100% personal reccomendation

That's about 140 mile round trip. I hear what you're saying about the chaps experience and ability which certainly counts, but ideally I was hoping for someone in Essex or Essex border.

The information and recommendation is definitely appreciated though :) if no one can recommend anyone in my area then I may well use him. :)

I hope you find someone locally, my friend recently completed his raw striker kit car and had a pinto engine with two sets of weber 40's on that needed setting up, most places he called that advertised as tuners or tuning experts didn't even know what a carburettor was!!

Certainly not as popular as it once used to be, but by no.means a lost art. I used to use Northampton Motorsport for my Westfield SEiW, but that didn't take half our oil reserves to get it there ;)

Wheels are Summit aluminium 5 spokes, tyres are 245 rear 225 front BF Goodrich.

If you have an automatic transmission you´d be better off switching to a vacuum secondary carb.
