Hi, I replaced my headliner over one year ago and everything was ok, until the recent warm weather. I have used standard fabric / carpet spray can glue and the headliner is vinyl fabric onto plastic . Please can someone recommend a good quality glue which will be long lasting and easy to apply. Many thanks from Luke |

I was recommended by NPD to use 3M SCOTCH WELD 76 HI-TACK SPRAY ADHESIVE CAN which i found on ebay UK for less than £8 inc delivery. Used it on vinyl headliner onto plastic board approx two years ago. Have a look at 3m's uk website as they offer a few options for upholstery if i remember right. When applying, did you scuff up the plastic, clean / degrease, spray some glue onto the material, some glue onto the plastic, wait a few minutes for the glue to go tacky and then mate the 2 surfaces together, applying pressure with a roller / cloth? Not good that it's sagging already |

Thanks for the quick reply I don't think that I scuffed the plastic before hand, will make sure I do it this time!. Do you think it's possible for the heat from the sun on the roof, to warp the plastic.?, causing the material to come un-stuck |

Your welcome. I used a scotchbrite pad and used the patterned side of the ABS plastic headliner - one side was smooth, the other had a leather type pattern on it, so used that hoping for maximum adhesion. Most likely the heat has softened up the glue, if it was on a smooth surface then it may have not been able to hold onto the surface, causing it let go in areas. I assume that it's the material that's sagging, as opposed to the actual plastic warping and starting to flatten out? |

Hi, I have just removed my headliner from the car and I have ordered the glue from ebay. I will remember to scuff it up, before re-fitting. Last summer I do remember that when out in warm weather the centre of the headliner, did slightly sag down and when it was back in the garage it flexed back up. |

You really need what they call a cold glue, I did mine with PVA wood glue, it doesn't get soft from the very high temperature in the car. |
