Post subject:  New pic / photobucket tool

If you're creating a new post / replying, you may see a new tool above the attach file box. This new tool is the photobocket tool which is quite quick to pickup how to use.

1) The biggest benefit is that when you create a post / reply, you can upload a file from your computer /phone to photobucket, have the image link to hand and paste into your post, without leaving this website. If anything, it's quicker and more robust to use than the built in add photo feature.
2) You can also access all of your existing photo's, albums and videos that are already on photobucket, from within the tool, making it really quick and easy to show them in a post.
3) Another benefit is that it saves the club site from having to store and load images all the time.. this is ultimately what drives up storage space and bandwidth usage, which leads to the site hitting limits / costing too much to run.

An over explained how to guide - it very quick and easy once you've used it a couple of times: (assumption in the below is that you need to upload a pic. If you need to post an existing pic, skip step 3)

1) Login to photobucket via the tool
a) Looking at the tool, it will ask you to login to your photobucket account, so go for it, if you haven't got an account, it's free to sign up and use. I believe the only limitation is that you have 2GB of storage (it can increase, can't remember how). note, this feature is known as an API, which means that the tool is linking directly to photobucket. None of your usernames, passwords etc are stored or seen by the CCCUK website, it's a direct interface with photobucket

2) Select the folder (album) you want to upload your pic to / access your existing pic
a) Once logged in, the first line refers to the 'album' where you picture is / will be stored. It will start with the highest most folder, so click on the dropdown and work down the folder structure that you've setup in photobucket, to find the folder where you wish for the image to be uploaded to / accessed from. This is an important step when uploading because once you post an image link, if you then move the picture to a different folder, it will no longer display as the link will have changed. For example, if your username at pb is 2014Camaro, and you create a folder called Cars, then a folder within Cars called Camaros, you will probably want to post the pic in 2014Camaro->Cars->Camaros, so click on the dropdown (which defaults at the highest level, which in this case will be '2014Camaro'), then you will see the 'Cars' sub-folder so click on it, then click the dropdown again, and you will see the 'Camaros' sub-folder, so click on it, and this makes it the active folder / album to work with. You will see existing pics that are in that folder which is a good way of being sure you're in the correct folder / album. sometimes it may take a second between clicking on a dropdown item and then seeing the changes, so hold on for a sec if nothing has changed

3) Upload the pic
a) Click on the 'browse' button, this lets you navigate through your pc and find the pic you want. Once found, click select / choose / ok and the tool will now display the filename, where it once said 'no file selected'. Click upload. This sends your selected image, to your selected album. The pic should then show up in the tool, with a blue box around it.

4) Add the pic to your post
a) Making sure the pic you want has the blue box around it, look further down at the 'URL' box, which will show something like http://i... Click once in the white box, this will highlight the whole url of where the image is located. Either right click and choose copy, or use the keyboard shortcut 'ctrl + c'. Scroll back up to your post, place the cursor where you want the image to be, look just above the box you're typing in and click the button that says 'Img'. This places a couple of boxes into your text window. Assuming you've not pressed anything else, the cursor will be in the middle of the 2 boxes, so simply paste the link, by choosing the 'ctlr + v' shortcut keys or right clicking in the middle of the boxes and choosing paste. If you want to add a second pic, repeat the process... either upload another image, or look through your existing pics, click on the one you want, make sure the blue box is around the pic you want, copy the URL, place the cursor where you want the image to appear in the post, click on the Img box, paste the link, repeat as many times as you like!
