I've a T5 VW & a common practice on them is to remove the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) to aid performance & economy. It looks like a lot of them are going to be having grief soon when it comes to MOT time https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new- ... ate-filter cheers...Nige |

The DPF is often a £1000 to £1500 part to replace for many cars, so this will cause massive aggravation to lots and lots of people, and will end up making so many 5-10 year cars with a bit of mileage on them ready for the scrap heap just because of this... |

Interesting, but as with catalytic converters, a thought pops into my mostly vacant head - what if the item in question (DPF, cat) appears to be in place but is in fact a gutted empty case. So visually it appears to be there, and when emissions tested, it passes the test. Has to pass then doesn't it? Also, we have seen a few DPF problems recently but to my knowledge, they have all been resolved by regeneration. HTH Cheers, Martin |
