but I think a tax disc spoils the look of a yank so i dont mind...

My understanding is that it's only the physical tax disc that will be no longer used. You would pay online monthly (new) or for 6 / 12 months as usual. So i guess, kind of like insurance, no visible mark on the car. I guess more ANPR vans kicking about? I wonder how you would remember when it's expired though. I check my windscreen when i think sh*t when was the last time i renewed the tax disc, then i see it and think sweet, another x months left. Would they send emails / postal reminders?

How to post pics: When writing a message, scroll down and use the "attach file" option. Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").

I can't see them posting reminders as the whole point of this exercise is to save money

if you pay online they send you a reminder so I guess that will stay the same.....
I always leave it a week or so before I put the new disc in the landrover and the old bag over the road grasses me up....then I get a letter through the post asking me to display the tax
