I fancy cleaning my engine. Its mechanically spot on but I want it to look clean as well as when I lift the bonnet it looks pretty grubby.

Whats the best procedure? Is there anything I need to specifically avoid with water? I done it before a long time ago with another car and covered bits and pieces with plastic bags but this engine looks a lot more complex.

Any tips or pointers appreciated.

Brian

hehe cleaning the engine now :D

i wouldnt use water at all. When I cleaned mine I stripped bits off that I could, plastics etc and used a few tins of wd40 and a rag. You WILL cut your hand though as its quite tight. Just do the best you can but aviod water as it will cause the ali to corrode faster.

just my opinion :D

When i was in L.A at a self car wash lot, a guy with a pickup opened his bonnet and just hosed it all down with soapy water, then came back and hosed it down with regular water. I couldn't get my camera out in time but i pretty much burst out laughing!
