Hi guys  allways wanted to build a Tot Rod for my Daughter but things got in the way, life cars and other things ,so we (me and my daughter)decided to go for it,for my Grandkids girl 8 boy 4 .So bid on a gokart and also while we were in the same area we also bid on rear axel (with a diff )also wider wheels and tyres and other bits and bobs ,so this is what we started with .ImageImageImage A good starting point Cheers Neil

Hi T.C. hope to see your pics  ,hope you have more luck than me ,my computer keeps freezing :?: the Tot Rod needed to be built to specific criteria 1 would have to go into caravan (to get to shows ect ) 2 to be big enough for kids to grow into (im only building it once )and possibley a big kid (adult ) 3 not to pricey ,so this is what we did  ImageImageImage after getting some crucial measurements of a guy from another site cheers Gerry i phoned around for tubing ,and could only get heavier than i wanted i decided to go back to hotroding roots and use tube, box ,all i had in my garage :?: whilst using the loo in the house i spotted an old treadmill my daughter was going to sell for not a lot ,i phoned her she wasn,t in so i made an executive decision and the treadmill was rapidly took down the garage

That's coming along nicely, look forward to seeing it progress. What sort of body are you putting on it?

my "Bugatti" doesn't have a floor

nor much in brakes!
I was thinking of using an old aluminium ironing board as a new chassis- lightweight and almost the right size for body!

Will find some pictures

Most fun is in the making of it..............

The good thing about not using all tube is it saves on a lot of coped ends . Bye the way i had a go in the gokart and it was a flying machine (will have to limit for Leah & Jacob )grandkids Imagebup:Image Image[img] rear axel plates wllded in ,starting to take shape  i also changed the front spindles (cut off drilled out and welded in new ones )to match the wheels

Also extended rear axel by 50 mm to give clearance to mount engine look back two pictures /aa373/neilw58/Totrod/100_1060.jpg[/img]Imageside rails going in ,i tryed to use as many pre bent tubes as possible as my bender destroyed all but the thickest tube i had Image Image also made a removeable rollbar for saftey ,as its for the grandkids Leah & Jacob .Removeable so it will go into the caravan .

This is the story so far ImageImageImageImageThe floor braceing is so i can use thinner plate for the floor ,it is small box section ,it was oridginaly a stand out of a music store ,the only down side apart from cutting and grind all welds was that it was all curved so needed straightening first BUT it was a FREEBE .Been toying with mounting the engine further back and putting wheels on the back and having a wheely rod  only joking ill cut the rear rails once i mock up the body work (im making the shell my self ) ,got to have a break with the Tot Rod for now ,but will be back on it soon Cheers Neil
