Russ said in the "what would you like" thread regarding ways to make the forum more active........ "This probably also sounds daft but another forum I go on has got 30 members, it has what they call a "Daily Greets" section, it is expected that the first person to log on to the forum each day starts a new thread with that days date and does a short post. The post could be as trivial as "Morning guys, can't work on the car today as it is pissing down with rain here" or "The mrs has taken the kids out for the day so i have got some quality garage time". Load of bollox really but it does get people into the habit of posting and they do get some good threads on there which are interesting. As i say only 30 members but without fail at least 50 posts per day quite often a lot more."

Well, lets give it a go. I'll start this morning off by saying that I'm off into the garage now to put some more artwork on the guitar that I'm painting. Hoping to get some lacquer on the artwork today to seal it in before I do some more intricate stuff. The sun's out here, so hoping to get some time to take "Evilzee" out for a blast. Also noticed that Rays fixed the missing smilies & added some new ones :eh: :problem: :shh: :shifty:

So what are your plans for the day?? Add them to this thread & tomorrow we'll start a " Saturday Daily Greet" thread

cheers...Nige

Good work. ..

I doubt if I'll be first daily greet very often due to my work pattern. ..

Ok, today's plans are - just having brekkie now, then as I'm working in Nice til sunday we were thinking of a day trip to Monaco to check it out... driven past a few times but never gone down off the motorway to have a look. ..

Hoep you're enjoying it out there!!

It's also cold here and forsty, should be expecting snow over the weeked. Not able to fit in any car work today or tomorrow unfortunatley :( Too cold to go in the garage afterwork. Have started looking at log burners on ebay, would be nice to get some heat in there :)

How to post pics: When writing a message, scroll down and use the "attach file" option. Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").

Hi Guys,

Good afternoon, no telling whether this will work, but nothing ventured nothing gained. I ought to be putting a similar thread up on my own forum to see if it encourages more people to post and get involved.

Probably pay you to include the date when you do the next thread otherwise in a months time when you have got 4 of each day of the week some one is bound to bump the wrong one. Incidently the site i go on that has this thread running is based in the states so me or a guy over in Ireland quite often start it because of the time difference.

Nige, next time you go on to my forum there is a new guy "malc" who you might want to make yourself known to, he has got a gen 3 Camaro that he has owned since 1993.

Overcast and damp here, and bloody freezing, looks like i will be lighting the fire later.

Cheers.

Russ.

Hi Guys,

It's late afternoon here (Spain). Nothing special happening, went shopping this morning with Mary my wife, and spent the afternoon reading the local papers in the sun, sorry but its been 19 degrees today.
Going out tonight to listen to one of the local bands.

was listening to Radio 4 this morning en route for office

piece about the changes to LCD TVs caught my attention
apparently all the top branded Jap brands have lost as much money in past 12 months as they made in previous 18 years!
everyone is going for new cheaper brands

the presentor went on to say that he must be alone in not having an LCD but a CRT (cathode ray tube)- old fashioned type of tv?

Not so!
I deliberately have a CRT TV in letting cottage becuase we close the place down in winter and since it can often reach minus 20 c for long periods- LCD screens freeze up and break down- but old CRT jobs do not!!
Managed to find a decent sony CRT from "harrods" - the name given to our local recycling centre here on IOM!
