I recently bought a pair of Marathon trainers called ASICS. ASICS apparently stands for “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano” which according to the blurb accompanying the trainers means “a sound mind in a sound body”. I believe that they have the wrong translation for "mind" . I understand the more usual Latin phrase for this is “Mens sana in corpore sano” accredited to Juvenal X.356-

Should I be the first to tell the ASICS Corporation that Anima is the plural of Animus which means “intention, spirit or mind –a sense or feeling: often ill feeling or hostility”, and from which the English word animated is derived, they have the wrong translation and that they really should rename the Corporation MSICS?

It is the equivalent of the drowning sailor with poor english shouting to a passing ship "Help Frugal me, Frugal me"

Ah i have Asics too, GT-2140. Mind you, I do feel like i'm at deaths door everytime i've had them on, so perhaps they go it right ;) Interesting how they made such a mistake in translation. It might be worth giving them a nudge to see what they respond with. Translations / use of words are an interesting thing, i like the German coast guard video for an example of that:

So are you planning on running a marathon TC??

How to post pics: When writing a message, scroll down and use the "attach file" option. Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").
