Hi all
Just wondering if any of you own/use one of these over the extreme winter times :?:
My motor wont fit in the garage due to the usual stuff and i was going to get a expensive car cover untill reading march hares
paint problem post
So im thinking of one of these but only useing half the upright poles so it will be much lower the the car/ground.

Hi

No I've not used one but the cover I have in use I got from Covercraft. When I contacted them recently, they appear to have left the UK and ship from US.

However, I covered a Chevrolet Blazer with one for 7 years (yes I did use the truck but then covered it again) and the Camaro has been covered each winter for 2 winters, now heading into the third. Not had any problems.

Not sure what caused the issues March Hare described. Did you get an answer March Hare?

:?: :?: :?:

My worry with that gazebo style is that if it's very windy this winter, or you get a big storm, bad things could happen to the Camaro.
I've seen much smaller ones get blown about, and knocking over a garden chair is one thing, but when a leg comes loose and takes out glass, or dents and scratches the car that's another.
At least with a cover, if it's snug enough, it's not going to move about or decide to poke a leg through the glass!

Hi All,

I was told that my problem was caused by a pin hole in the clear coat and condensation got in due to the strange wether we had this year while it was under the cover, ie lots of rain but warm humid conditions. I had left the car covered for about 3 weeks in the summer when we had all the rain, yes there were dry days but the cover was soaking and if it had rained again while I had taken it off I didnt want to put it back on a wet car, if you know what I mean, so I left it on. This is the third year I had used a cover and had had no problems. I think it was more to do with the weather conditions.

In my opinion, for what it´s worth, I would have no hesitation in using a cover for an extended period over the winter months as long as it was a good breathable cover, it fits properly and is well secured. But I dont think I will use it during the summer months any more, I will have to just clean it every week.

Hope this helps

Hi

Both covers I have used were of the same type and manufacture. Worth getting a quote I'd say.

They were Covercraft (of Europe) Weathershield covers. The first one is still kept as an emergency cover for the Camaro although it was bought for the Blazer. The Camaro one is now into it's third winter.

They can be had fully fitted to your choice of car.

Hi,

I got my cover from the US on ebay. It was meant for a Camaro and fits realy well but is not what you would call fully fitted. It´s 5 layers and meant to be fully breathable etc. Can´t remember how mush I paid for it, about 80 dollars I think. I´m in Spain for the winter so I don´t have the full details with me, sorry.

Hope this helps.
