I have seen a 1970 Dodge Charger project, car is complete, had body done dipped and eco primed, engine/trans back in, but everything else is sat in boxes labelled up waiting for reassembly.

I could probably get the cash for it if I sell KITT, but then I need to paint it and put it all back together, and although KITT fits in my garage, I don't thinka Charger will.

Dodge Charger is my dream Muscle car (dare I say that on here??????), other than a Yenko of course... so, what do I do? try and flog KITT quickly and take on something that's too much of a challenge, but I've always dreamed of owning, or pass it up and hope someone else gets enjoyment out of it?

Hmmm......

I don't think you really want to flog KITT do you ? The Dodge is a wonderful car but you so is KITT.

I think you should save up and buy a Charger when you can have both.

Mmmm, decisions decisions!!! I can certainly see the attraction of going for the car that you've always wanted, but realistically you need a lot of free time, patience & somewhere big enough to accomodate working on a project like this & to be able to store all of the parts whilst you're working on it. The last thing you want to do is to sell Kitt, buy the Charger & then run out of enthusiasm before you get to finish it & have to sell it on as an unfinished project. To be honest, if you have to farm out much of the work ie welding, body work, painting etc, then it'll finally creep up in cost to what you could almost buy a completed car for. If you really want a Charger, I'd be inclined to look for one that's already on the road needing work, that you can carry out as a running restoration. That way you get to use & drive the car whilst cosmetically making it how you want. ;) Once that car's layed up in the garage in bits, the enthusiasm can die very quickly when you don't feel as if you're getting anywhere, but are still laying out money for parts/labour.Hope that helps, keep us informed ;)Cheers....Nige

I hear your logic, and you're spot on, but I also always wanted to build a car form the shell up. This car is 100% solid body wise and "just" needs reassembly.

If I buy a going concern Charger, what lies beneath? However, that's never stopped me before I suppose. BUT.......its a pretty good deal. I guess it comes down to whether I can shift KITT quickly or not....and for how much?

Ahh, probably best I do nothing, finish KITT, THEN sell it and buy a charger that moves under its own steam!

Anyone want a very nice charger project?
