Hello there, new to the American car scene with my godfather's 4th gen Z28 Convertible (I've posted up a thread in the Projects forum :D ). Google has proved unfruitful in my search, does anyone know of any specialists in the South Yorkshire/North Derbyshire area?

I'm based in Sheffield, and I have found that one at Castleford but I don't really want to have to travel that far if I have to, considering the amount of work I need to get done and I don't have a great deal of time to be taking the car up there.

I also need the roof replacing and the mechanism needs attention, having never owned a convertible or an American car, do you think I should take it to and American specialist (should I find one) or a convertible specialist?

Cheers

Michael

Hi mate,

I'm in Sheffield myself (Shiregreen) and have had trouble finding anyone local who's a Yank specialist. Most stuff can be done at any garage: I had the Opti Spark and a few other jobs done at a place in Wombwell (my home town) but for things like diagnostics no one local wants to know.

CasAm is a bit of a hike but not too bad if the car's road legal. There's classic Mopar specialist Dave Billadeau in Donny but he told me he didn't know the workings of a 4th gen Camaro and could only suggest Rodley Motors in Bradford who are as far away as CasAm and apparently charge £60 per hour.

I've found AutoPontiac (Robin Gray) very helpful but they're in middlesex... If i find anyone a bit nearer to civilisation i'll let you know. ;)

Car Details:Hi Guy's, she's a 91 met grey 3rd gen with a 305 V8 and T tops, and a genuine 26,000km, no rust, landed from japan in 2005, 3 uk owners and I love to bits.....
Hi Michael, your 4th gen looks in pretty good order fella, I generally use USA automotive for my parts, most of the stuff is on the shelf and next day, not

really sure on a local specialist though.. I can chuck a spanner about and I live in Bolsover Chesterfield, if you get stuck with anything

I dont mind swinging by and having a look with you... ;) Keeps the bills down fella!! your roof cant be to hard to sort... 8-)

Cheers
Jason

I really am useless, I completely forgot I posted this thread, apologies for being ignorant. There's a place up at Wathe upon Dearne who are happy to do the service work for me, quoted £90 for oil and all filters which I though was good, (though 600 they quoted for my cambelt and waterpump on my S4 I was less impressed with!)

One thing I am not sure about is whether they will be able to run diagnostics on it. Being a 1995 will it have OBD1 or 2? Currently have ABS and TCS lights on which need diagnosing
