I thought I would bring myself into the modern era and I purchased a new digital tyre pressure gauge (wow... real breath taking stuff this) and it works fine. However, it is reading 7 psig higher than my good old dial gauge. So now I have got to go to the garage tommorow to find out which one is correct. Why did I bother. |

Gerry So what if the garage one doesn't agree with either of your others??? I'd settle for one which you feel comfortable with using. The way I look at it is that the psi will be different from standing still to driving for an hour and summer and winter may affect it as well. Maybe I'm wrong but as long as the pressures are consistant each time I check and the same side to side I when I check then I'm OK with it. I agree though, it is frustrating that you can't just buy 2 different guages and get the same answer from both! Safe driving! |

So I went to my local petrol station and they have a digital air machine where you set the pressure you want, put your 20p in and you have two minutes to fill your tyres. The machine's calibration gets checked regular apparantley. Anyway, I set the pressure to 30psig and done all four wheels. Got home and checked the pressure's whith my new digital machine and they where all whithin 0.2psig. I then checked whith my old dial gauge and they all read about 23psig. So it looks like the dial gauge is for the bin and thank god for new technology. Happy Days |
