The Camaro Club (UK) ::TV programmes

I used to love watching American Chopper but only the bits where they were actually in the workshop making stuff and solving problems.

Top Gear used to be ok but I'm not overly impressed with it nowadays, the Channel 4 effort is utter tripe and although I like the content of the program which helps people buy cars at auction, I HATE the numpty that feels the need to write on the windscreens of motors aswell as telling us his prices. He's a proper twonk which is pity because the programme could be very watchable.

There's also a program on MTV called Pimp My Ride which is interesting if you turn the sound off. The guys that do the "pimping" of the cars are very talented but they're all so OTT and can barely speak English. Again, great idea for a programme but spoilt by the people they use.

The kind of show I'd like would teach the viewer how to do stuff but would doubtless be boring to the common viewer.

Following on from the magazine & web site threads, what car/bike orientated TV programmes do you watch regularly?? I tend to watch Overhauling, American HotRod, Wrecks to Riches USA (can't stand the British version) & the Biker Build off series. ( I love watching the ingenuity these guys put into things) Cheers.......Nige

I don't get Discovery channel etc which I belive American Hot Rod/Chooper etc are on, I did get a box set of the Boyd Cod series. Top Class. For me it used to be NHRA Drags on Five US, but they stopped showing it, NASCAR on Five US, but guess what...., Top Gear......err, OK, so there is nothing I would even bother switching the TV on for at present! The NEW Knight Rider featuring a Shelby Mustang as KITT is coming to the UK this year on the SciFi channel, another one I don't get on freeview!

Like you I only watch American Chopper to see the fabrication taking place, but some of those bikes look awful in their design ( a chopper with a crane for a sissy bar Arghh!!!). Has anyone seen the episode of Chop Cut Rebuild with Dan woods where they build a Dynacorn '68 Camaro from scratch? ( The white one that was on the front cover of American Car World magazine a while ago) The premise is that they use a new Dynacorn shell, with EVERYTHING bought brand new to build a totally new Camaro. It surprised me that Dynacorn wanted the programme to be aired, as none of the panels fitted & had to have bits of metal either trimmed off or added to get any resemblance of correct body gaps The whole car was then skimmed with bodyfiller to get rid of the ripples in the metalwork. Admittedly when it was finished it looked really good, but what a load of bodges to get it to look like that. I've been told that to get a new Dynacorn shell ready for primer can take up to 220 hours Cheers......Nige

Dream Car Garage is quite interesting, pro restorers tak a Classic Muscle car etc and do it from ground up, lots of pro tips each week. Also, I love watching the Barret Jackson auctions which they sometimes show. When I win the lotto I am going to Bareet jackson....SOLD IT SOLD IT SOLD IT>......
