Next year, I am planning to build a 69 pro touring camaro. I would love to see what others in the UK have done. Please post up pics of the best uk pro tourers you have seen! Cheers Amit |

Really aren't that many pro-touring Camaros in the UK yet, a few on this site, mine sort of, and ProCharmos definately.. !!!! I think just due to the numbers of cars, and quite a few owners are more original spec polish and show people, rather than drive the T*Ts off them.. !!! I've seen a few first gens around with big wheels but nothing much else done.. Always impressed with this GTO that's been around a few years http://www.flickr.com/photos/stoo57/5801230107/ I know the guy who owns this: |

Well the pro-touring thing started as a function over form thing, sort of the opposite to the Pro-Street drag racing look of the late 80's/90's that made cars almost un-driveable on the street in the search for acceleration times.. The Foose type cars, and other top builders are the ultimate evolution of Pro-touring with incredible build quality and finish, but still packing modern hi-tech parts in old cars so they stop, corner and go as the priority... I think BigRed is touted as the first of the protouring cars back in the early 90's, but it was a basically a road legal race car. |

my plan is along the lines of the top builders. I have already spent £10K on just the wheels and suspension :S |

I'd definately go down the LS engine, 5 or 6 speed direction. Modern seats and dashboard, loads and loads of chassis strengthening, biggest brakes the wheels will allow.. I'd love to fit independant rear suspension, as in my opinion, this is a major hurdle to overcome with the older cars, as no matter how good you can get the car to handle on a nice smooth road, bumpy roads do unsettle a live axle car, so British country roads can be hard work, and any decent hatchback will be quicker. I personally like the Mark Stielow Camaros |

Current plan is an LS4 with 6spd manual box. Like I said I already have the full ridetech air suspension setup with 4 link rear and front and rear anti roll bars. I am never going to drive it on a track... as long as I can get round round-abouts interior will be bespoke. That means one of designed dash, door cards, even the seats will be scratch built. Also there will be plenty of carbon. Amit |

Sounds like it's gonna be fab... You never know, you might get the track day bug. I only went once out of curiosity and can't keep away now...!! |
