This is excellent!

Did you get her phone no BTW?

I am hopefull that the technical (and somewhat less exciting) parts of CCC are taken care of OK by Trevor Lynn of AACUK which hopefully has appeared on every sign off signature that I have signed off on?

These items include the membership payments and monitoring thereof for insurance purposes etc

But in the meantime we crack on with what the CCCUK was originally designed to do via this website.

You do not have to join the club to obtain access to the website, - am I doing this wrong? I don't know - all I do konw is that for the £45 pa cost we have a real deal here and it seems to be expanding! All good fun

I agree with everything being said and it's great that some of the item's are being made more clear. Having said that, the topics on here have dried up a bit over the last week compared with all the enthusiasim of the previous week :( .

I think we all want the same things but because we are all in different parts of the country it's hard to please everybody and we are not sure of the best way forward.

Like everyboby before me, I am happy to do what I can and help promote the club and meet new people at different events when I can.

Lets try and get it moving.

Cheers Gerry

Sadly, it looks like it ends here. :( :(

Hey ho I'll keep an eye on the future events pages.

Still may do Damn Yankees and still may do ACE Cafe at end of August. I also have a V twin bike so there are a few choices.

Sorry guys, I don't understand why the apathy all of a sudden. Tim's said he's happy for things to continue forward as discussed further on in this thread, to try & make this place busy, informative & a place for people to share thoughts & to organise events or meet ups. It's up to you guys to start becoming prolific posters & put stuff up on here that will make peope want to come back a few times a day & visit the forum. Maybe answer posts that are on here already, theres a lot of stuff on here that might have been missed by some of the newer guys on here. Do a search of older posts & see what interests you.

I've been posting up all sorts of stuff over the years just to try & generate some interest, but I can't do this on my own. As the saying goes "if you build it he will come", There are a lot of lurkers on here, who never post, by the same token there are some on here that just post when they need to know about something. We NEED to make this place busy, & in doing so people will find it intersting. This will bring around the comaraderie that you want. It takes time & a concerted effort.

To me & I guess most of you out there, I see this as the Camaro Club anyway, there's no reason for this to change is there?? WE can organise ourselves & run the club ourselves, as a group of mates that organise & talk via this forum. We don't need a committee at this time, nor do we need to pay subs to be in a club, WE ARE THE CLUB, right here & now.

I thought it'd be a good idea for the club decals, so I put my hand in my pocket & paid to have some made. I'm gonna do the same with the club T shirts. So when it comes to making cards to promote this place, most of us these days have a computer (else you wouldn't be on here) & a printer. There's not nescessarily a need to have professional business cards printed to promote the club. Why not copy the card that was posted on here previously, or make up some fliers & use our own printers to knock a few out for when we go to a show or event?? This will simplify things & keep things pretty much cost free, negating the need to send monies around the country.

keep it simple, keep on posting & keep on answering running threads. If everyone made the effort to log in here at least once a day & post answers to threads & post up just one new topic, this place would attract others. Unfortunately, people come on here, see nothing much since the last time they visited & don't return for some time, if at all!!

Without an injection of interest, this place & the club will be going nowhere. I can't keep this alive by myself.

Sorry rant over..........it's up to you guys now

cheers....Nige

Gerry, the reason that the topics on here have dried up is because there have only been a few new threads/asnswers to posts put up, thats up to you guys to do that. Sure there's a lot of interest in this thread, but we need to post up more & start chatting to each other, after all this is like an online pub or car show where we can share thoughts, ideas, pictures etc etc. We need to talk!!

I really don't want anyone to get the wrong idea here thinking that I'm trying to blow my own trumpet, that couldn't be further from the truth, but when I come on here, I regularly post up to 10 or so new threads in one go. Some get answered & some don't, but they all get a fairly good "view" numbers. If I'm on the 'net, at maybe another car forum, or generally surfing & see something of interest, I copy the URL & post it up on here for you guys. If everyone, or even just a few of us did this on a regular basis, then this place really would get busy.

If we're looking to gain new "members" via the card/flier route at shows, then we need to have something active here to make them want to come & visit again & again. By the same token, those of us "regulars" also need to see some activity here to make us want to come back.

Here's a couple of examples for you. The Mustang is a one make car, just like the Camaro & both have existed for roughly the same amount of time. There's probably about the same numbers of Mustangs in this country as Camaros. Take a look at the links below & see how active these two forums are. One (the mustang owners club) is a club, the other Classic Mustang is a forum. There's enough interest going on here with a one make car to have two forums running, just take a look at the number of threads in each section & see how active they are.

http://www.classic-mustang.co.uk/index.php

http://www.mocgb.net/forums/forum.php

So there's no reason our "club"/forum couldn't be the same.

Sooooo, the long & short of it is, it's up to US who frequent this place as regulars, to make it grow. No new threads or no new replies to posts will make this place die :( Dunno about you guys, but I think that would be a great shame.

cheers....NIge

Car Details:68 pontiac firebird coupe project car,my aim is a street friendly, lightly modified pro.touring style.
Lowered ,mild body mods,400 cu in SBC engine, Muncie 4speed, 10 bolt posi axle, disc front drum rear.
68 firebird convertible ( long term project) Stock resto/mod style ,400 pontiac th350
Some good ideas coming up -printing our own cards is something most of us could do and it doesn't take much effort to leave them on any car we happen to see.
The shirts will be good as they will help us spot each other at events [ instead of the usual scene where we see the cars at a show ,have no clue who the owner is and probably stand next to each other at the bar, then go home moaning that we didn't meet any owners...
I tend to think the Mustang clubs have a big advantage over us in strength of numbers ,off the top of my head I seem to remember one or other of the Mustang clubs having about 5000 members ,but we have less than 500.
The other thing to do is mention events on here so that other members are aware of them and hopefully get to meet up at the shows and race meets.

Soz Nigel pre menstrual apathy set in for a moment!!! Yep good idea just printing off the flyers off here to put on Camaro's at shows. As the meerkat says "simples" so that's sorted!
Right for the meet up, I liked the idea of the Mopar nationals at Santa pod as it would entertaining watching Mopars blowing their engines on the strip.( only jokin I still miss my Plymouth ) I think though arriving there on mass would be like a bunch of Mods turning up at a Hells Angels convention !!!! So is there another up coming shows that are agreeable? I mean before we know it the summer will be over and we will be staring at the booze fest that it Christmas. As before Nige give me a shout and I'll come on board and assist.

Hi Guys,

On the 1st July I posted a response on this thread saying that I printed off some cards and would try and distribute them at the Corvett show and today at Kimbolton. Well thats been done and now I'm hoping for some response to them. Today a guy from Bedford had a loverly 68 and another guy a 3rd gen. We can only try and intice them. Maybe they come and look but don't register until they need something, I don't know. anyway some pics in the Show section.

Cheers Gerry
