[quote="Arizona"]Great, so now is the time to start thinking about when we are getting together, any thoughts folks.

Just a couple of ideas ,feel free to shoot them down if you don't like them...
Mopar Nats is on at Santa Pod at the end of July ,for members in the South East and Midlands it could be a place to meet up .For those of you who havn't been to it ,it's a great muscle car event not just for Mopars and a good show and shine on the Sunday if draggin' isn't your scene.
For Southerners there is the Damn Yankees meet at North Weald airfield [ Harlow exit on M11 ] it's on7th August and always have a good muscle selection ,plus fins and chrome , trucks ,rods ,bikes .
Both of these are large sites so if we drifted off to a corner ,we wouldn't be in anyone's way.

T shirts are a cracker Nige, Ive noticed alot of the American car forums have a Paypal donation section on their sites but, as I've said I'd sooner pay you and Tim the money I spent joining the Motorvatin club. Also I don't mind being a area rep to get the ball rolling.
Any monies raised should go to Tim, as he handles the finances for the club. I've contacted Tim about this thread, so hopefully he'll be along soon to add his thoughts

cheers...Nige

Nige,
I think you already know I want a T but when you have got a price no doubt you'll post and we can all order.
As soon as I get the details I'll post them up & contact everyone  . Won't be for a week or two though as I've a lot going on at the mo, what with the house being rewired & intermittent electricity supplies

cheers....Nige

Hi guys,

This all sounds great  . The other week at Billing there were loads of Camaro's and I didn't meet one owner.

I have taken the liberty of copying the card design sugested by 78 Camaro (sorry don't know your name) and printing off a dozen cards which I will try and distribute at the Corvett show on Sunday at Huntingdon and the next week at the Bears sports car club show at Kimbolton.

There are some other shows I will be going to this summer so will try to do my bit and spread the word ( Kings Lyn Krusiers, Maxey Car Show, Stamford Show, Iceni show at Thetford Forest)

Cheers Gerry

Hi Everyone
Sounds like a bit of background is called for here

Three of us started the club formally in 1992 the Rules and Constitution were as follows:

1 "The Club's stated aim is to act as a forum for spare parts, information and news of restorations between those with an interest in............. Camaros
2 The Club will be open to any enthusiast with an interest in Camaros"

Quite a lot of this early stuff- including the bi annual newsletters I only have hard copies of.

Then over the winter of 1995/1996 I said the following :
"Not- The End of the beginning?
Very sadly this will be the last independent newsletter that the Classic Camaro Club will be producing. Increasing work committments and the necessity to provide ever better brochures/newsletters have led us to believe to the conclusion that the Classic Camaro Club would be better off within the aegis of another American Car Club with better resources at hand. We have therefore taken the decsion to merge the Classic Camaro Club with the American Car Club Motorvatin USA." (Becuase CCC membership was only £10 and MUSA £20 the Club paid for the difference for all existing Members".

However I went on to say:
" All members of the CCC will be monitored on the CCC register for which there is no charge. Your Secretary will continue to provide all specialised Camaro Club services such as decoding cars, locating parts and putting members in touch with other owners of Camaros. MUSA is an up and coming American Car Club with an extremely well produced 1/4 colour magazine and is an accredited Car Club for insurance purposes..........

I will continue to do what I can to maintain a centre of excellence and knowledge for all Camaro owners in this country utuilising the experience we have gained over the years. Part of MUSA will be devoted to the CCC and you will be reading articles from me and others appearing under that heading in future newsletters."

Ok so that is what happened.
Then MUSA became the Association of American Car Clubs UK
http://www.motorvatinusa.org.uk/intro.h ... maro3.html

So technically the situation is that whilst we are fulfilling my ongoing committment to the Camaro cause by setting up (and paying for !) this website the Club itself involving Membership fees etc is still handled by Trevor Lynn of AACC.

And I think that given that I am no longer in UK, and my Camaros are now based on IOM, and the original reasons for consolidation still remain true today I do not wish to change the status quo! However it seems clear that this website is an idela forum with which to promote the cause.
And I do think that there should be separate sections for F body Firebirds and indeed any other Chevrolet related genre or marque.

As far as organising stands and classic Car shows- let me share my experiences!
In pre AACC days we often tried to organise get togethers- the most successful was a "Capital Radio venture for Help a London Child" in London which was a huge success because of the airtime and advertising, but because of the wide spread of owners it was very difficult to guarentee cars at any given event, which seem to be spread across the UK - Tatton Park to Brighton.

So what we did next was to organise a Classic Car event (on the IOM)- called RetroMobile Isle of Man- which after three years became the largest Classic Car event on the IOM- with over 200 classic cars and thousands of specators held on the May day before TT practice week- we even had a parade of 50 classic motorbikes. sadly this all came to an end following my divorce in 2005 (the land belonged to my former father in law).

http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.as ... ey=&#56576
So in conclusion I think the website is doing what we orginally set out to do but is much better as a medium, I don't want to get involved in membership fees and that sort of admin again, but I do welcome all Camaro enthusiasts to use the forum to post details of possible meeting points and events. Of course the forum web explosion has come about since we merged CCC into AACC.
For example We might enter Butch in the Prescott Hillclimb American weekend in early October- would some lovely Camaros come along??

Best wishes all

Tim, are you averse to the guys on here, myself included trying to promote this place or the Camaro club?? Unfortunately, your post does come across a little bit like "been there done that". I understand that you don't want to be involved in the admin side, or organising show meetings etc, but this forum is the place that can connect Camaro owners & help them with any issues they might have. To me, this forum IS the club . You don't need to have a secretery, chairperson etc to make this work as everything can be organised via the forum. Any surplus monies raised from fund raising events etc can go to you for the upkeep of this place.

cheers...Nige

Thankyou Nigel
I am sorry if I came across all "been there done that!"
Not my intention!
In fact the aims of keeping the momentum going and furthering the Camaro Cause which I undertook to do even after having handed over the admin reins to Trevor of MUSA; are clearly best served by this forum.

And it has created a life of its own

Which is entirely due to the enthusiasm of everyone involved

I suppose what I am trying to say is that whilst I too believe that the forum is the most important part of the CCCUK, we do lack the key ingredients for the club- being membership fees, accounting for same etc

So that anything we do should bear in mind that Trevor of MUSA fulfills that part - which takes care of the legal aspects (of running a club).

I am happy to carry on paying for the domain costs and it is hugely helpful to have some of these costs defrayed through memorabilia sales- thankyou Nigel.

As far as get togethers are concerned my aim was to examine the pitfalls and upsides- by suggesting that (in my view) it is better to tag ourselves onto an existing event, or organise an event open to more than only Camaros for your chances of success to be improved.

Perhaps we should have a forthcoming events Board (I think we do?)

Hi Guys,

Well, I have just read through the last few posts twice and I am still none the wiser.!!! I know I am reasonbly new to this Club, forum call it what you will, but I was never aware that we are affiliadted to some other club I have never heard of and that fees are being paid to this club!!!.

For me this is the only forum and club I am registered on because it is free and no membership fees for stuff you are not interested in. Any way back to the issue. This weekend at the Corvett show I approached six different Camaro owners who were slightly aware of the club but had never looked at the website. After explaning to them what I thought it was all about(I'm not so sure now) and that it would not cost them anything to sign up they were all very interested.

It turned out we had six 4th gen's all parked up togeather( something I have never seen before)
and another 4th gen and one second gen a little further away. We all had a great time exchanging stories and general chatting and we ended up being some of the last to leave the show area.

I met Howie and his loverly family from this website due to the posting about the show. Hopefully some of the other people we met will also sign up on here and meet up again at other shows. This for me is a big part of owning the Camaro, to drive it and meet up with like minded people and have a bit of fun. Hey I'm an old fart but I'm not prepared to get into my box yet, only on it

Will post some pics in the other show section.

Cheers Gerry
