Spoken with Ray 78 Camaro via text earlier & he'll be back on here tomorrow. There's a few things we can do to help the situation & we'll take it up with Tim (Topcat) asap. ;)

any thoughts on how to get more interest & people involved posting on here??

cheers...Nige

I don´t know how you can get people involved. I see that over the last few months there has been a lot of new members but most of them don´t even say hello. It makes you wonder why they register?
I´m not trying to sound down on this, more the opposite, but I just don´t have any idea´s, sorry. :(

That was one of the reasons that we decided that new members had to post in the "new users section" first to introduce themselves, thus enabling us to authorise their registration and for us to make their account active. Hopefully, it'll make the new user feel less uncomfortable about posting in the future, especially after being welcomed here by the members . This also made it far easier to control the amount of "spam" we were getting, which was immense. This has only been put in place over the past few weeks since Ray took over as forum webmaster, so hopefully it'll work well for us in the future :) .

cheers...Nige

I think my first suggestion I was goin to make has been just covered regarding spammers and none posters by having a purge. Secondly reduce the amount of sub forums on the site. Thirdly contact Classic American and American Car World to do an article on the club. They are always scratching around to fill the mags.

Hi all
Ideas - Piggy backing other events, rwyb, drag racing i like em all :D :D

The only problem i have is fitting all the events/weekends away that i want to do each year like
Family holiday
Stars n Stripes
War an Peace show
Billing- spring-summer+end of seasons rally
Euro top fuel finals
Mopar euro nationals
Theres more but cant remember now whilst posting this but im sure some of these will clash :(
like last year when billybob drummed up a meet at billings summer event it clashed with my main family holiday so i missed it

I would also pay a membership fee if it would help. make it bigger/better for all as long as there was a free sticker on completion of paying the said membership fee :D

Snap on tools have made enough money from me over the years
Snap On Man- buy these stu and you get 2 free stickers!!! Me Ooooh Ok :P

So for me it doesnt really matter what event we all meet up at its more a case of when and where and will it clash with other stuff me/family have planned

It's great to see all the input so far and read about how people would like to see the club grow. It would be great to keep this thread along the brainstorm that has been so far, encouraging everyone to have their say - there's no wrong or right so don't feel like you'll get bitten for making a suggestion.

Personally i like reading the forum to learn about others antics and stories and seeing their cars / projects etc. I don't mind if pics aren't perfect at all, anything that captures the Camaro image, whatever gen, whatever it's doing. Even updates and different angles if the cars just stood there every now and then just to let others know it's still collecting rust and dust ;) (i'm guilty of not doing this on my own project thread!!). Seeing as my Camaro is nearly 3 years in my posession and still not driveable , it has hindered me getting as involved as i'd like to be in the physical activities out there.

There are other forums out there for Camaro's and Chevy's and i know the U.S ones have a much higher turnover in terms of posts and replies. I've known a couple of people on here have said that it can be a lot quicker to post and get a reply on the U.S ones, unfortunately that means that those users will slowly migrate to those sites and the situation over here worsens because there's less posting going on. It would be great to encourage eachother to keep the posts and information flowing, therefore attracting some further interest as to what we can offer as a club.

One of the things to tackle is to make sure we have enough server space to accommodate for plenty of pics etc. Hopefully with some fundraising this will be possible. I'm looking into ways that we can help cover the club costs (mainly just the server costs). I wouldn't want to see people pay to use the site - i actually wanted a Mustang back in the day and what put me off joining the owners club (to learn more about Mustangs) was paying £25 a year to access a website, being only 16 at the time it was a lot of cash to handover.

I'm looking at ways that we can provide club merchandise - t-shirts, hoodies, stickers, that type of thing - that we will make just enough cash on to help support the running of the site. That way we get to enjoy some Camaro goodies as well 8-) . The risk of paid membership is that people could expect a certain level of service to be delivered and we could also be turning away users. I have also thought about setting up a small donation paypal account or something similar, for those who would like to chip in a few £ every now and then, rather than spending say more cash on merchandise one might not want, but would still like to show some support. This is maybe something we can also do when we decide on certain meets to attend etc, we can have a mini collection to maybe pay a few £ to park a members Camaro in the club spot, if we have such a thing setup.

There is some more advertising resource to be tapped, i'm looking into something at the moment to see if we can get any headway with it. Not a fan of the heavy advertising that some forums use, which is to plug adverts into the middle of a topic, so ideally one or two main advertises would be better to help chip into it. After all, we're not looking to make money from the site, just to allow the UK to have it's own Camaro resource available.

Thanks to everyone's contributions so far - not just to this topic, but to the site as a whole. It's everyone's interest and engagement that keeps the site and the club going and worthwhile having. Please do add more info about what you would like to get from the club, it all helps!!

I'm also waiting on some new software to arrive to help work on the merchandising stuff as well, so more on that to come!

Cheers,

Ray

great stuff Ray

I think raising revenue should be a priority but I wholly agree that a membership fee is more trouble than it is worth

I think that adverts for sales of items or similar could be fee generating as well as the Tee shirts and stickers etc. I am often being asked to advertise a Camaro for sale somewhere- I think that in future unless it forms a general interest story I shall request a small fee- in fcat I have one in my inbox right now!

Like many I am a member of several other similar car related forums- and what I particularly like about our CCCUK forum is the pleasant atmosphere and good language used in exchanges.

there is none of the sort of disparaging comments that one sees on other sites that result in contributers being sent to the sin bin etc! Long may this continue

One thing I cannot log in via my HTC- it has thrown me out - help Ray/Nigel? I can only log on with PC and avaialable WIFI- not easy everywhere I go!!!

I agree on the language side of things - everyone on this site has a really good manner and it's one of the reasons to be able to comfortably share things on here. There are some sites that get way out of hand and people down eachothers efforts - everyone on here is helpful and encouraging so it's great to be involved with a such a community.

Nige and i have been speaking recently and when you're infront of a computer again TC we can share some more thoughts. We've got things moving now and still have some momentum to pick up and then we should see those efforts reflected soon. Still happy to hear everyones thoughts and make sure everyone gets what they want out of the club.

Not sure what could happy with the phone log in issue, i've managed to stay in via 2 phone devices, see if you have still have the same issues when you are back in the lovely UK? Enjoy the rest of the sunshine out there of course :)

Cheers for now!

Ray
