there is still the original Camaro Club UK that sits under the banner of Motivatin USA, you can subscribe to the Camaro Club UK and get usual member benefits, valuations etc. This is an internet forum started up by Tim Boles (Topcat), who is (was?) Secretary of the Motorvatin USA Camaro Club. It serves an altogether different purpose.

www.camaroclub.co.uk

I'm not sure how all of this works going forwards....but that's how it is now. I guess the logical thing is to make the two either completely distinct, or unified? Tim, over to you.....

I like a lot of the ideas Knight_watchman put forwards about the regions, I know myself I will be posting more often to see if anyone is interested in meets etc. I have just got back from Spain so im just getting the car sorted, give it some nice fresh oil and filter and some new tires on, getting my Phd admin stuff sorted then I know my time table and can put some ideas forwards :)

Oh by the way, any news on the T-shirts??

there are "Regional" sections on the forum, so you can talk about whippets or fox hunting or cheese racing or whatever your regional excentricities are! :D

The club as represented by this forum remains free at present

Although my orginal UK iteration CCC Uk club (via MUSA)does charge a membership fee and complies with the requirement (of Insurance Companies) to charge a fee and for Members to "join/belong".

Reason why I merged CCCUK with MUSA in the first place (in UK) was that I could well see that I was unable to keep up with all the admin- and they had the best magazine of all clubs (now sadly defunct). I really would prefer not to get involved in the membership admin again.

Charging Members say £10 fee and then following up membership dues, and then complaints from those requesting info/immediate answers to questions etc really is not worth my while! Now I would like to recover the costs of the website space at some time- but I would rather do this as and when from sale of items or donations.

So one possible solution would be for Trevor to continue to manage the "membership" aspects of CCCUK whilst we do our own thing here- and we refer Members to eachother for specific matters. For Eg I can decode any US car to end 1979- for that certificate I think a fee becomes chargeable- is that unreasonable? However I have only rarely been asked to provide same recently.
Am en route from Capetown at Joburg awaiting flight to London City via Frankfurt at present!

One thing I would love to make happen would be for us to initiate a spellchecker in our entries! My typing is so poor I rely heavily on spellcheckers in normal Outlook etc tec!!

TIM, install something like iespell on your PC/laptop and you can spell check any web form/input, not just this site. You can build up your own custom dictionary etc.
