Oh once I have it there will be photo galore, and I already have plans for mods, last sportscar I had was an MR2, but after starting mods I just lost the will to continue as you get so little out of tuning a 2 litre 4 pot and the lack of grunt was a misery, I want torque! My brother will also be getting a yank car about the same time, probably a similar age mustang cobra, so will be fun pitting them against eachother. As for more info on my plans, I have never really been a show/meet kind of person, or even for strip/track. I like a car that I can enjoy weekly for normal driving. I have had the opportunity to drive a lot of sportscars, my MR2 was one of the best handling cars ever, my brothers last supra, a twin turbo three litre was incredably fast, but nothing satisfies me like the low down torque and sound of a V8.

"What's left to do to it? Any pics?? cheers....Nige"

Hi Nige,

In a word LOADS! :?

The car is completely stripped at the moment, front and rear suspension being updated. Engine will stay the same for now (budget and exchange rate constraints). Manual gearbox conversion, new wiring loom, interior etc etc, there's a piccie of the car in the gallery before it went to the bodyshop.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark, what made you decide to strip it as it looks sweet in the picture. Have you stripped the shell right down & removed all of the paint, or just the mechanicals?. Where's the "this thread is useless without pictures" smilie when you want one?

Thank you, it does look ok, but still needed a respray!. Just mechanicals and interior at the moment. Lots of welding for the rear suspension and a new boot floor going in. Then once all the body is straight, it will be resprayed (colour undecided).

You've been lurking round Lateral-g forums too long

hehe, so what did you do to upset them?! :o

Yes I am going the pro-touring route, decided soon after I got the car that I wanted it to handle better, plus a ride in Butch many years ago definitely confirmed that that was the right choice :D

The Pro-Touring scene has been a Godsend, with lots of new parts available :)

What are you doing to yours - apart from making an excellent job of the bodywork :)

Well, I told them that I thought they were nuts for spending over a $1000.00's for billet hood hinges as they didn't make the car go any faster or handle any better & that they were guilty of turning pro touring, which I thought was about power & handling, into a trailer queen festival full of billet & bling. (pretty much like pro street went, all show no go! :o  .

My car has a 500+bhp small block with a crossram & twin 600 Holleys, manual trans, X pipe exhaust, large tube headers, adjustable Konis all 'round, 1400lb front springs, 150lb rear springs, Carbotech brakes, severely dropped suspension & Superlite wheels but I'm a bit undecided about the final look of the car. It's red at the moment, but I intend to use it for sprints & a bit of circuit racing. I've always been drawn to the Trans Am series of the '60's, hence my white T/A was built in that style (see thread for pics elsewhere). I'm tempted to make my '69 in a similar vein with race numbers, period decals & the name in some gold leaf lettering on the rear 1/4'sin the style of the Sunoco Penske cars. Then I'm also swaying towards just keeping it as an ordiunary looking Z/28 with black stripes. One day it's one way & then the next it's the other, I just can't decide at the moment :? :? Cheers....Nige

Nice! that's what I want - SBC 500+bhp Got koni's coilovers on the front, but need to find koni coilovers for the rear that can be mounted upside down! I keep changing my mind about how the car is going to look, so know how you feel ;)

Why do you want to fit the Konis upside down??
