Does anybody know how a car moving to tax free is handled? Assuming he rules don't change, cars over 40 years old are tax free. Do you pay tax up till the date they are registered, or till he following year or some other procedure?

Good question, i would have thought it's until the anniversary of the month and year of registration i.e. a '77 Camaro registered on Feb 1st would be tax free when applying for tax on Feb 1st. Haven't looked much into it bit that's my best guess for now.

How to post pics: When writing a message, scroll down and use the "attach file" option. Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").

I believe the vehicle has to be 40 years old on the first of Jan, so my 77 will be tax free from 2018

Hmm, yes that is what I thought, just chose whatever option gives the tax man the most money and that will be the right one!

Damn, I might need to wait till 2020!

For anyone interested it rolls over on 1st April each year, so depending o when my car is down as registered it will mean either April 2019 or April 2020 before it is tax free!

Thanks for looking into that! It makes sense actually then, as it's tied in with the tax year.
