Far more people are killed every year in non-automotive related incidents and accidents than in all forms of motorsport put together
Too right. It was in the news a couple of weeks ago that a girl in Singapore died from overworking (worked a regular office type job, but always worked late into the night). In the summer an intern office worker in the U.S also died from overworking. So on that logic working should be illegal. In fact, you don't have much of a choice when it comes to work, you kind of need to pay bills so you have to be there. This type of motorsport is voluntary so the risks are obvious and no one is forcing people to be there or take part. There is vocational motorsport too, again, the risks are quite obvious and no one is usually forced into those situations to work as an F1 driver for example.
Trying to find the stats, but i remember in an introduction to stats class the lecturer was using an example of A&E visits. He took joy in comparing reasons to visit a&e... the more serious injuries were rarer in comparison to the amount of people that needed treatment for falling over while putting on underwear / socks in the morning! So, should we also not be allowed to get dressed any longer, based on the high amount of casualties it causes?
