Well i'm so annoyed I felt I HAD to come on here and vent

just run a salvage yard to get a price on some second hand calipers and disc to set up some brakes, the discs were rust and proby would be usable anyway just required for a set up.

the salvage company...who I shal not name here.. said they wanted £260 + VAT....WTF

UK based usautomotive, or john wolfe racing do recon calipers for £100 each roughly....and discs and pad sets can be had for £130....so why would I pay nearly fully price for old stuff and unusable discs

you try to explain this and they just fob you off...what a bunch of ****s (enter what word you want :) )...how do these companies even stay open !!!

I paid quite alot of money for my Corvette calipers and abutments from a Uk breaker couple of years ago, not the new or recon price .... so I suspect it may the same place... :shh:

probably.....

can get the calipers elsewhere but need the abutments then which need to come from US anyway....so might as well get the calipers new/recon....just hassle...prob stick with LS1 ones I have and adapt my spindle to suit...more info on my swap will be coming :D

It would'nt be a breaker with the Canadian flag symbol in its name would it?? They tried to do me dry over a wiring loom once!!! Not many US scrapers left in this country thanks to EU regulations. Stateside in Atherstone was a treasure trove and one in the centre of Brum who's name I forget was another cracker! I got a fantastic tailgate for a Fox body Mustang from him at a cheap price. Christ !! Altogether now " those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end...."

actually not this time, although I have deal with them before....and equally expensive for some stuff..but they did negotiate a price

It was one more up north, no negotiation, just an outright arse !
